Exploring Kisoro

EXPLORING KISORO

There is a lot to do in Kisoro it happening to the land of a thousand hills composed of over 24 crater lakes.
On a recent trip down to South Western Uganda I came to realize that the boarder district of Kisoro has much more to offer than what we thought before, South of Kabale this boarder district is nestled between mountains and lakes, touched by the two boarders of the democratic republic of Congo and Rwanda. Traditionally the area offered Mountain Gorilla Trekking Safaris and the hikes to any of the three dormant volcano mountain of Mgahinga, Muhavura and Sabinyo.

Recent additions have been the Golden monkey treks and the Batwa trail which takes you back to the times our ancestors used to live in the forest and depended entirely on nature for survival. For the more adventurers there is a walk from Nkuringo which will take around bwindi and end up in Kisoro town, there is also exploring the Lake Mutanda in the dugout canoes with local area Guides, one may set off on foot from their lodging through the back routes of Kisoro and end up with canoes riding on Lake Mutanda as one way to explore the region.

There also other short but interesting excursion on offer by the travelers rest hotel, remember this place once acted as a refuge for the famous Gorilla conservationist Diana Fossey all this in Kisoro.

Therefore for a mix of history, adventure and culture why not check out the Kisoro area, our recommendations, guided community walk with canoeing on Lake Mutanda, hiking the Volcanoes, Nkuringo walking safari, Batwa community trail, Golden Monkey visits and lastly Gorilla trekking safaris in Uganda and Rwanda
